Last night, PlayStation hosted a special edition of the State of Play. The half-hour livestream focused exclusively on the features of Gran Turismo 7, while also honouring the 25th anniversary of the series.

The racing franchise Gran Turismo has been celebrating the so-called “Car Culture” for 25 years now. Sleek cars, impressive tracks and action-packed races make for exciting gameplay that still thrills the fan community. Last evening, Sony took the opportunity to present special features of Gran Turismo 7 in a special edition of State of Play. We summarise them for you very briefly.

One feature of Gran Turismo 7 is the Music Rally arcade mode. Amateur racers get behind the wheel of a Porsche Carrera Speedster ’56 and try to clear checkpoints before time runs out. Meanwhile, they listen to motivating and driving music. For newcomers, this mode offers a good opportunity to familiarise themselves with the handling.

The café is an interesting place on your Gran Turismo 7 map. There you can find menu books with various challenges that further advance your game progress. One challenge, for example, is to be in possession of three Japanese cars. To get them all, you have to complete the races that the menu book suggests.

Familiar meets new in Gran Turismo 7

Following the purchase of the car, you make your way to the licence centre. Long-time GT fans are already very familiar with this place. By completing race tests and passing trials, players unlock licences for their cars. While low-level licences are quite easy to earn, the level of difficulty increases as the licence level rises.
Last but not least, we should mention the tuning shop. This is available after reaching a certain in-game level and offers various improvements for your own fleet. As the game progresses and the collector’s will increases, new objects and categories can be unlocked within the shop.

Gran Turismo 7 will be released for PlayStation on 4 March. For more details on the State of Play, check out the PlayStation blog post. If you are already excited about the title, you can pre-order it on the official website
