Los Santos Tuners brought more new players than any other update before, according to Rockstar. In return, a cash injection now beckons for all.
Car tuning swallows up a lot of money, and GTA Online is no exception. Rockstar is helping out with a cash gift so that the pimping of your virtual skid doesn’t drive you into poverty. Players of GTA 5’s online mode will soon receive a cash injection of 250,000 GTA dollars.
As the developer explained on Twitter, this is in celebration of the latest update Los Santos Tuners, which tells you a new story about a mildly annoying tuner couple, adds several new cars and gives you access to a swank club.
A huge thank you to our amazing GTA Online community — we're extremely humbled to share that more players joined GTA Online for the launch of Los Santos Tuners than any update ever!
In thanks, we’re dropping GTA$250K in everyone’s accounts shortly. See you on the streets of LS! pic.twitter.com/VrqXgCNNwc

Of course, such a cash injection isn’t a bad promotional pitch to lure back lost players either. However, Los Santos Tuners (and GTA Online in general) is already a gigantic success for Rockstar Games.
Biggest player magnet
GTA Online has been doing better on PC virtually every year since 2015 (on consoles since 2013) in terms of profit for Rockstar Games. In 2020, the game generated around one billion US dollars in revenue for the developer. That’s a hefty harvest for all the seeded content that regularly finds its way into the gangster MMO.
With GTA Online: Los Santos Tuners, “more new players have been added than with any previous update”, as Rockstar explained. As usual, the developer is holding back on exact figures, but this patch can still be considered a great success.
What’s new in GTA Online: Los Santos Tuners is summarised in the big overview article. In addition to the new story, the LS Car Meet and 17 new vehicles, there are also special races and a purchasable workshop.
