The impressively chic story game Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 not only reveals dark gameplay scenes and a look behind the scenes, but also the exact release date for this year
It’s gritty, it’s brutal, it’s a graphics smash hit: Hellblade 2 showed off some new scenes during the Xbox Developer Direct that rival even graphics bombs like Alan Wake 2. However, the story will certainly not be neglected. We reveal the most important information that was revealed in the livestream
What was shown?
In the trailer above you can see new gameplay scenes and cutscenes. But you’ll have to look closely to tell them apart: Hellblade 2 looks absolutely fantastic and almost cinematic, even in the direct gameplay scenes. But it’s also quite dark, even a little more sinister than part 1. “Senua is not a superhero,” say the developers. Every fight should feel like Senua is just barely surviving.
But that’s not all: The video also contains some exciting information on how the development of Hellblade is going, which experts are being worked with and how motion capturing has evolved. There were also new story snippets to be heard
Release is fixed
On May 21, 2024 Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be released for PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game will also be included in the Game Pass
at the time of release.
More features and info
- Short game: Hellblade 2 should not offer many hours of gameplay. Like its predecessor, the focus is on a shorter, but very story-driven and graphically impressive experience;
- Senua has evolved since Hellblade 1. She still has psychoses, perceives reality with different eyes and, above all, still has voices in her head. But she is no longer afraid of them and has found peace with her past.
- In order to authentically portray Senua’s psychoses the developers are once again working with those affected and a professor from the University of Cambridge.
- She is now in Icelandto fight the Vikings who raided her village back then. The whole thing takes place during the 10th century. Ninja Theory aims to recreate the history of this period as authentically as possible.
- New NPCs: In contrast to the first part, Senua also meets other characters with whom she makes friends.
- The sound plays an even bigger role: In Hellblade 2, not only the voices are binaural, but also the music, among other things. So if you play with good headphones, the sounds will come from different directions for a more immersive experience.
- Apropos music: For the soundtrack, Ninja Theory is working with the Scandinavian-German folk band Heilung.
Lastly, there are still some question marks about the story, but with such a short title, every little bit of information is quickly a spoiler. After all, the first part, Senua’s Sacrifice, is only 7-9 hours long – Hellblade 2 will probably be of a similar length
