Sony has relented and withdrawn the planned PSN account requirement. However, the story will be remembered in a humorous way
Fans of Helldivers 2 are currently celebrating another victory for the Super Earth: Sony has refrained from obliging players to link a PSN account and has even apologized.
Previously, the announcement of the account requirement and the resulting sales ban in numerous countries had led to an outcry in the community. Over 100,000 negative Steam reviews were submitted, some of which have since been retracted. However, the Helldivers lead developer now wants to immortalize the reviews in the game in a humorous way.
This design is pretty cool
Chief developer Johan Pilestedt shares a fan’s idea on Twitter, which at first sounds like a joke. A new cape on which the Steam reviews of the past few days can be seen as red bars:

The new design
is the idea of a community member. When asked whether there will actually be such a cape, Pilestedt replies:
The team is currently thinking about a good name for it.
So it seems that players will actually get the cape. Of course, name suggestions are also being diligently posted on Twitter:

The humorous immortalization of negative reviews is also extremely popular on Reddit. One fan’s joking suggestion : The new cape should be a reward for linking a PSN account with Helldivers.
In fact, Johan Pilestedt had already announced that the cape would be available for free. However, there was no mention of additional unlock conditions.
After the end of the dispute about the account requirement, both developers and fans are certainly happy to be able to get back to the game itself.
