A new challenge for Helldivers – but this time without controllers!

Helldivers 2 is one of the biggest surprise hits of recent years. Explosive co-op action, epic alien battles and a merciless friendly fire system have made the game one of the fastest-selling PlayStation titles of all time. But now a whole new challenge awaits you – one that you probably didn’t see coming.

The developers at Arrowhead Studioshave made an exciting announcement: Helldivers 2 will be relocated to a completely new battlefield. It will remain tactical, chaotic and challenging – only this time, things will be a little different.

From digital alien battles to tabletop warfare

Arrowhead Studios is teaming up with Steamforged Games to create “Helldivers 2: The Board Game” – a board game adaptation of the popular co-op shooter. And no, it won’t be a simple dice game with pretty miniatures. Instead, you can expect:

  • dynamic missions with unpredictable threats
  • cooperative tactics for 1-4 players – and yes, friendly fire remains!
  • a wide range of weapons and strategic equipment
  • Detailed miniatures that perfectly capture the sci-fi setting

Believe it or not – even the typical “Helldivers miscommunication” that has ruined so many missions could play a role here.

Hype or skepticism? The community is divided

While many fans are eagerly awaiting the board game based on Helldivers 2, there are also critical voices. The reason? Steamforged Games. The studio has already adapted video games such as “Dark Souls” and “Monster Hunter” as board games – with mixed feedback. Some fear that too much focus is being placed on miniatures and not enough on good gameplay.

But Arrowhead Studios promises that the game captures the tactical depth and humor of the original. Will it succeed? That will be decided in the upcoming crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound , which starts on April 8, 2025.

Should you embark on this mission?

A board game spin-off from Helldivers 2? Sounds crazy – but that’s what could make it so exciting. If the game can capture the chaotic, tactical co-op experience of the original, it could be a must-have for fans.
