AFK players were causing even more server problems in Helldivers 2, but this is now a thing of the past

Helldivers 2 is a first-class co-op shooter, but currently has one problem in particular: overloaded servers and often long queues at peak times.

Numerous players tried to get around this and only made the problem worse. Now there’s a new patch that promises to improve the situation.

Whoever clogs up gets kicked

At 11am, the update was announced in the official Helldivers 2 Discord, stating: “We’ve rolled out a new patch for PC and PS5 that addresses AFK players, stability and crashes, and backend performance improvements”.

The sticking point here are the AFK players Because in order to save themselves login waiting time, many users no longer log out of Helldivers 2 at all

A vicious circle, because the game currently only offers limited space – so Helldivers standing around idly took the slot away from people who just wanted to jump into the game!

This led to huge protests on social media, as seen here on Reddit:

The solution: An automatic kick function has been implemented. It says: “We have integrated a function that automatically kicks out players who are inactive for 15 minutes. “

So if you simply leave the console or computer running with Helldivers 2, you will have to queue up again after 15 minutes like everyone else.

“With the Vespa to Formula 1” At the same time, the development studio assures that it is still working flat out to increase the server structure and capacity. Head of development Pilestedt praised the work of his IT department in this context and wrote on Twitter: “These people have quintupled the originally planned maximum within a week and are now going even further. I don’t think many people understand the scale of such an achievement. It’s like competing in Formula 1 on a Vespa. Johan Pilestedt, Arrowhead CEO. Helldivers 2 unexpectedly went through the roof on Steam in many respects, reaching a peak of 457,000 simultaneous users shortly after its release. This puts the shooter – to the great surprise of the entire industry – in 20th place among the highest player records in Steam history, even beating GTA Online, Starfield, Destiny 2 and Skyrim.
