The date for the wizard action role-playing game in the Harry Potter universe Hogwarts Legacy has been confirmed, a nifty new trailer already briefly introduced us to the gameplay and story. So far, so good. But now, in a short tech trailer, Avalanche Software revealed several terrific new features that will make your PS5 DualSense Controller for Hogwarts Legacy feel and control just like a wand! We explain the most important features that could make Hogwarts Legacy truly magical and unique.
This is what the PS5 controller has to offer you for Hogwarts Legacy
The DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers have been something to get used to in titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Horizon Forbidden West. Hogwarts Legacy will also use this feature and even expand on it! It will allow you to literally feel the strength, intensity and power of certain spells you cast with your fingers. The resistance of the sensitive trigger buttons will take care of this. The developers’ decision to limit this mechanic to the right side of the controller, i.e. the R1 and R2 buttons, is also interesting here. This is to simulate the magic wand feeling even better (Are there left-handed wizards and witches? Maybe. Maybe a patch will implement that in the finished game at some point). The adaptive triggers thus also provide more freedom in combat. Of course, the haptic feedback, which makes your spellcasting feel even better and more real, is also fitting.
The use of the LED light of the PS5 controller is also particularly chic. This flashes in the corresponding colour when spells are cast. Otherwise, it very stylishly displays the colours of your Hogwarts house. Blue and bronze for Ravenclaw, red and gold for Gryffindor, green and silver for Slytherin and yellow and black for cute Hufflepuff.
Of course, the audiovisual experience has also been taken into account. Hogwarts Legacy on the PS5 uses Tempest 3D AudioTechology for the sound and the classic “Fidelity” and “Performance” modes are available for selection as graphics modes. As usual, you can decide whether you prefer a higher refresh rate or sharper graphic details when playing. Of course, you can change this at any time in the pause menu if you would like to try out both settings.
Another victory for Sony on the controller front
The Next Gen Immersion trailer details the new features for the PS5 DualSense controller that will be available for Hogwarts Legacy at launch. This once again rightfully earns the Playstation 5 console the title of the true next gen console. Of course, Hogwarts Legacy will also be released for the Xbox platforms, but the additional extras on the PS5 make the wizarding experience truly rounded and magical.
