According to a rumour, a new edition of Horizon Zero Dawn is in the works. However, this is not supposed to be developed by the original developer Guerrilla Games. But seriously… do we really need a remaster of the game already?!
No, you haven”t read it wrong. There”s a rumour circulating the net right now that Sony is working with a development studio on a remake of Horizon Zero Dawn. The info comes from insider Colin Moriarty, who talks about it in his Sacred Symbols podcast. However, as this is hidden behind a Patreon paywall, we have taken our information from Comicbook. According to Moriarty, the original studio Guerrilla Games is not in charge of development, which of course raises the question of why.

No, you have not misread. There”s a rumour circulating the net right now that Sony is working with a development studio on a remake of Horizon Zero Dawn. The info comes from insider Colin Moriarty, who talks about it on his Sacred Symbols podcast. However, since this is hidden behind a Patreon paywall, we took our information from (Comicbook) According to Moriarty, the original studio Guerrilla Games has not been contracted to develop, which of course raises the question of why.
One reason for this could be that Guerrilla Games is currently busy with other Horizon projects. After all, the VR spin-off Horizon Call of the Mountain is in the starting blocks. This is to be released on the market on 22 February together with PlayStation VR2.
On the other hand, the Horizon Forbidden West DLC Burning Shores was announced in December. This is set to be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on April 19.
Guerrilla also recently confirmed that they are working on a multiplayer project in the Horizon universe.
Does it need a remake of Horizon Zero Dawn?
In short (and at least in our opinion): No. Horizon Zero Dawn only came out in 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and still looks great. There”s also the question of price. How much would such a (possible) exclusive remaster for the PlayStation 5 cost? If we can expect such horrendous prices as with The Last of Us: Part I, most fans will probably be more than happy to do without it.
If there is really any truth in this rumour, we will probably only be able to find out in the future.
