Sony”s supply of remastered versions of not so old games doesn”t seem to stop. According to several sources, it”s now the turn of the five-year-old Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Sony is said to be working on a remake or remaster of Horizon: Zero Dawn, which will be released for PS5 and PC. A multiplayer spin-off is also planned, in which we will hunt for mechanical dinos together with friends. At least that”s what several insiders and news outlets in the gaming industry want to know.

Most recently, Sony gave The Last of Us a major overhaul with Part 1, the Playstation milestone that the Horizon: Zero Dawn remake is supposed to follow.

Remake or Remaster? At the moment, it is not possible to say exactly what the alleged remake of Horizon: Zero Dawn is. Currently, there are only a few details about what the return of the 2017 action adventure for PS5 and PC is supposed to offer.

What exactly is in it? According to the leaked information, the remake of Horizon: Zero Dawn will offer new graphics modes, accessibility features and quality of life improvements to the gameplay – not unlike The Last of Us: Part 1. Especially the character models and the representation of light as well as the animations should benefit from the remake or remaster.

In 2020, Horizon: Zero Dawn was already given a number of technical improvements with the release of the PC version – such as a larger view, higher frame rate, revised vegetation and ultra-wide resolution. However, numerous players had to struggle with bugs and glitches at the time of the release.

What is known about the multiplayer spin-off? Not that much at all. At the moment, all we know is that a spin-off to Horizon: Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West is allegedly planned, which will be a classic multiplayer. According to (VGC ), Sony has had its sights set on a multiplayer for Horizon for some time – for example in the form of a co-op mode for Forbidden West.

The basic idea for this is of course reminiscent of the Monster Hunter series, in which several players also go on the hunt to bring down giant monstrosities together. When Guerrilla plans to reveal or release the multiplayer project for Horizon is currently unknown.

Where did the rumour come from? Several industry insiders and portals reported on the news, and subsequently other representatives confirmed that they had heard about the plans. For example (MP1ST ) or VGC. So the chances are quite good that there is indeed something to the story. But fans should, as always, wait for an official confirmation from Sony and Guerrilla Games.

The alleged plans would definitely not be too surprising, as Sony has already realised various remakes, remasters and new releases – for example The Last of Us: Part 1, Ghost of Tsushima or Marvel”s Spider-Man. It would definitely make sense for Sony to boost the Guerrilla brand again in light of an upcoming Netflix series on Horizon. Especially considering how much Cyberpunk 2077, for example, could benefit from the release of the Netflix anime Edgerunners.

What do you think of the alleged plans for a remake or remaster of Horizon: Zero Dawn, which is only five years old? Would you rather see another remake from Sony, or are you looking forward to reliving Aloy”s adventure in a post-apocalypse full of mechanical dinos, again or for the first time?
