The latest patch is intended to further improve performance in the role-playing game, and there is also a mode for arachnophobes.

Hogwarts Legacy was quite well received by players when it was released in February, but bugs and performance problems reduced the gameplay in many cases, which led to a downgrade in our review. Several patches have already taken care of these problems, and now another major update provides improved performance and fixes numerous bugs.

What’s in the update?

The new update is about 2 gigabytes in size and includes over 500 bug fixes and other technical improvements. Those who can’t handle giant spiders can also turn them off in the future, we summarize the most important things:

  • Arachnophobia mode: Those who detest the eight-legged crawlers can ban them completely from the game in the future, which was previously only possible via mod . Spiders will be transformed into a less scary appearance when the option is activated, their screams will no longer be heard and spider corpses will become invisible.
(The alternative spiders are somehow also very scary, but probably more tolerable for arachnophobes.)

  • Performance improvements: Fixed bugs that caused crashes or performance issues on all platforms (PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S). These are mostly just specific fixes that fix a performance dip or crashes at specific points in the game.
  • Bugfixes: A wide variety of issues have been fixed across the board. For instance, your clothes should no longer look dirty, the quest Urtkots Helmet can now be completed, and several bugs have been fixed where you could fall out of the world.
