Hunt: Showdown 1896 has been running on a new version of the CryEngine since the last major update.

The multiplayer shooter now benefits from features such as DirectX 12, FSR 2.1.2 and HDR support. Overall, Crytek was able to take lighting, detail density and much more to a new level.

The new map Mammon’s Gulch is a particularly good example of the improved visuals (in what are already extremely atmospheric surroundings). The previous maps were taken out of rotation as part of the 1896 release, but will also be updated and then returned.

Now the developers are introducing the first comeback: Stillwater Bayou, the original map from Hunt in a Louisiana setting, will soon be playable again. The new video shows the visual upgrades Stillwater has received in the meantime.

There is no exact date for the re-release, but October 7 is considered likely. This is when the current event Scorched Earth ends.
