A Reddit user recently posted a short video showing what The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion would look like in a Doom variant.

Have you ever wondered what The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion would look like if it were a Doom game? No? You’ll find out in a moment though, because Reddit user Sloth_Johnson recently posted a short video showing just that – and the community loves it.

Sword vs. projectiles

The video shows a little over 40 seconds of gameplay from a game that combines the look and characters of Oblivion with the gameplay of Doom. In the first room, the protagonist collects his equipment and then rushes into battle.

After taking on the sword feed, he encounters a powerful Imperial guard who fires at him with a shotgun. Just like you remember the original adventure in Tamriel. Finally, the protagonist meets the ruler and… oh, just see for yourself.

And just like that, Todd Howard has taken another $60 from me

The Reddit community loves the video so much they want to try it themselves. For example, sirjakobos writes:

What the hell is this? I want to play it!

Many others express similar sentiments. The user Ensign53 also makes an entertaining allusion to the phenomenon of Bethesda and Todd Howard repeatedly re-releasing various role-playing games from their portfolio. Often, the price is only adjusted to a limited extent. But Ensign53 seems to at least know that he is part of the problem himself.

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to try out this mix of Doom and Oblivion yourself But maybe some modders will be inspired by the video to develop it themselves and make it available to everyone.

Until then, you can play Doom for the umpteenth time – on a toy for adults, for example. If you are more interested in Oblivion, the remake will probably be out by then. Otherwise, the next Doom installment is also very medieval. Just check out the box above for more info.
