The developers at Magic Pie Games are focusing entirely on the single-player experience. The release is planned for 2025

It’s not only freezing cold at the North Pole, it’s also damn lonely. A seemingly endless expanse covered in snow is not what most people would call the place of their dreams for living or working.

But that’s exactly where we’ll be heading in Polyaris, which has been announced for the first quarter of 2025. In the survival game, we take on the role of a polar explorer who ends up in the Arctic no man’s land

And there, of all places, on the border between Norway and Russia, we are the only survivors to escape a nuclear war.

Procedurally generated landscape

According to developer studio Magic Pie Games, players must make sure to stay warm, find vital resources and avoid snowstorms.

Skis serve as a means of transportation through the snow-covered landscapes and wild animals such as polar bears keep crossing the path, which must be fought off. Players must also uncover the secret of why they, of all people, are the last survivor

You can get a first impression of the game in the trailer for Polyaris:

The developers emphasize two things.Firstly, Polyaris is a purely solo experience. The players are really alone in the Arctic and don’t bump into other “last survivors” every few meters.

On the other hand, the game world is procedurally generated, which can provide one or two moments of surprise during the game. Of course, it remains to be seen whether it will play like this in the end.

Polyaris is due to be released for PC in Q1 2025. The developers provide insights into the work on the game in a devlog on YouTube:

Two of these devlogs have already been published. In the videos, the developers talk about the game’s mechanics and story, among other things. According to the videos, it should also be possible in the game to travel back and forth between icebergs and important locations on the map with a ship

Now it’s up to you:What do you think of the scenario? Would this type of game appeal to you? Or do you prefer to play in a group? Feel free to write your opinion in the comments:
