We played the influencer simulator for you and tell you what you can expect from it.
If you want to become a star on Twitch or YouTube, you have to bring a lot to the table: at least a pinch of talent, good ideas, irrepressible motivation and, above all, a lot of time.
Instead, you’ll have a much easier time in the upcoming simulation game YouTubers Life 2: Here you can not only playfully become the next Pewdiepie, but this time the world’s most famous Youtuber will even help you himself.
What’s YouTubers Life 2 about?
As the name suggests, YouTubers Life 2 is the sequel to the successful simulator YouTubers Life from 2016. After you have created your character in the extensive editor, your adventure begins in the tranquil game world of NewTube City.
As in the first part, you start as an absolute nobody: In order to gain a few subscribers for your channel, you sit in your little room and film the first videos. Just like in the predecessor, this takes place in two phases – recording and editing – each of which is represented by its own mini-game.
The video recording is a kind of card game: In several rounds, you have a choice of different courses of action, which increase five different values. The goal is to reach the maximum in all categories. If you crack a joke, your humour will increase, while a smart remark will increase your intelligence. When you edit your recordings, you put the individual clips together and have to make as many connections between the clips as possible.
But it’s not only on NewTube that you can put your face in the camera, other social media channels also want to be served: In the Instagram equivalent InstaLife, you take selfies and tag them with hashtags, and on Glitch you go live on air. The streaming is a bit more hectic than the otherwise quite tranquil rest of the game, because here you have to press the right key combinations in time in quicktime events.
But you’re not on your own on the way to fame: YouTubers Life 2 offers a real story this time, in the course of which you not only meet well-known Internet stars like Pewdiepie, Paluten or GermanLetsPlay, but also uncover a mystery about androids and hidden doors.
Also new: The freely walkable city brings lots of new tasks and possibilities into the game that were not available in the first part. In the early game, for example, it’s worth doing simple delivery jobs for the other townspeople in order to earn coins for new games or tickets to Youtuber conventions.
Who will be interested in YouTubers Life 2?
At first glance, it is clear that YouTubers Life 2 is aimed more at younger players. The presentation is cute and colourful, the story is told in a child-friendly way and the mini-games don’t present you with too many brain teasers.
But adults can also have fun, because the game is a well thought-out time management simulation in the style of Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing. If you like to watch your little business empire grow and constantly unlock new improvements, this could be the title for you.
If you’re unsure: Pewdiepie himself has already played YouTubers Life 2 and provides a good insight into the various game mechanics.
