Soon Indiana Jones will be back on the big screen to thrill the crowds. Meanwhile, a video game about the adventure-tested archaeologist is also planned by Machine Games . But this, it now appears, will not be released for the Playstation console and will become a pure Xbox exclusive

The reason for the change in plans seems to be Microsoft and the company’s current direction in the video game segment. In the course of the negotiations between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, an interesting fact has come to light: Bethesda’s upcoming Indiana Jones game will be exclusive to Xbox consoles. Pete Hines, head of Global Publishing at Bethesda, confirmed this information during a Federal Trade Commission hearing.

Microsoft’s internal decision for exclusivity was justified by wanting to minimise risk and provide some certainty. Hines explained, “The main reason is that we want to reduce risk and have some level of certainty. We’re working with a licensor who has a lot of feedback on what we’re doing, which extends the timeline. “

The timetable for the Indiana Jones game seems to be long term anyway, as the game has not been released yet. It was also not represented at this year’s Summer Game Fest s event. Originally, according to the contract with Disney, the game was planned to be released for several consoles until Microsoft took over Bethesda and with it Machine Games. In the long run, Microsoft wants to strengthen its exclusive portfolio and catch up with Playstation. The miserable launch of Redfall recently, could be another reason to focus even more on triple-A exclusive titles.
