The first custom GPUs for the Intel Arc B580 can be found in online shops. The prices asked easily exceed the 300-euro mark.
Yesterday, Intel presented the first graphics cards of the Battlemage series after leaks in daily cycles. With the Arc B570 and Arc B580, the manufacturer wants to establish itself in the budget and mid-range market in its second attempt and promises decent performance in 1080p and 1440p resolution.
It all starts on December 13 with the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition (the reference model), which is expected to retail for an MSRP of $249. However, one piece of information was missing from Intel’s Battlemage presentation: the price for Europe.
- Now we have a first indication of the surcharge that custom manufacturers are charging for the Arc B580 compared to the US market. The retailer Proshop lists an “Asrock Steel Legend Arc B580” for just under 320 euros.
- In the US, the same model has also already landed at the first dealers. Here, the custom GPU is listed for around $270, which results in a difference of a little less than 20 percent.
- For comparison: the Intel Arc A580 Limited Edition had “only” a surcharge of around ten percent between the USA (180 US dollars) and Europe (200 euros).
Further custom models of the B580 can also be found on Proshop, which each call for a price of around 330 euros for the “Asrock B580 Challenger OC” and around 340 euros for the “Sparkle Arc B580 Titan OC”.
Arc B580: More than 300 euros MSRP is possible, but not set in stone
The discrepancy with the US price is even greater, at least for the Challenger model, because here the Sparkle GPU is sold for around $260. With this information, the trade fair for an Intel Arc B580 below 300 euros is still not complete.
- Proshop itself is rarely noticed as the cheapest provider in our sample-based price comparison of various available custom GPUs. Accordingly, it is conceivable that a small price premium is called for here, since the Intel GPUs are the first to be sold in German online shops.
- Even with the pessimistic, naive calculation of a twenty percent surcharge between the US and Euro markets, the Arc B580 Limited Edition would start at a price of just under 300 euros.
- The smaller Arc B570 would probably be between 260 and 270 euros in this equation. However, we will probably have to wait even longer for an official price, since this GPU will not be available in stores until January 16, 2025.
In both cases, regardless of the official Intel MSRP, it remains to be seen how the Battlemage graphics cards will actually perform in independent benchmarks – even though the manufacturer’s specifications are encouraging. That’s why we want to know from you: at what price would the new Intel GPUs be worth considering for you?
