Fans of the superhero series can look forward to a thrilling comeback in 2026, because a new enemy, even worse than Conquest, has now been confirmed.

After the action-packed finale of season three, fans of the superhero series Invincible can look forward to a reunion in 2026. The official X-account (formerly Twitter) of the series has now confirmed this – and immediately provided a few exciting details about the next season. Among them: the casting of the next big villain and a storyline that does not exist in the comics.

Thragg is coming – the most dangerous Viltrumite of all

The announcement is short but meaningful. Season 4 of Invincible will be released in 2026, continuing the positive trend of shorter waiting times. While fans had to wait over two years between seasons 1 and 2, the break between seasons 2 and 3 was only about a year – and that’s exactly how it should stay.

The biggest revelation, however, concerns the cast of Thragg, the leader of the Viltrum Empire. Although it has not yet been revealed who will play the all-powerful antagonist, his announcement alone shows that the situation for Mark Grayson aka Invincible continues to escalate dramatically.

After the brutal duel with Conquest, who provided some of the most intense (and hardest to digest) scenes of the series in season 3, the next showdown is imminent – with an opponent who even outshines Conquest.

Damien Darkblood is back – with a brand new story

But it’s not just the villains that season 4 ups the ante on. Fan favorite Damien Darkblood, the demonic detective with Hellboy vibes, returns with a story that was written completely new for the series.

This is the first time Invincible has visibly ventured away from the comic book template and gone its own way with the story. What exactly Darkblood’s new role is remains a secret, but the post-credit scene from the season 3 finale should be a clear hint.
The good news for those impatiently waiting for more: the voice recordings for season 4 have also already been completed. Even though the exact release date has not yet been announced, everything indicates that production is on the right track. This should actually ensure new episodes in 2026 – and a reunion with Mark, Omni-Man, Atom Eve and the rest.
