The Doom Slayer could soon be setting off on his next mission. A sixth installment is set to be unveiled in just a few weeks
Load up the shotgun and oil up the chainsaw – perhaps a new wave of demons is on its way. Doom 6 could already be shown at the Xbox Games Showcase in June. Rumors of a new installment in the shooter series have been around for some time, but the game seems closer than expected.
Doom 6 at the Xbox Games Showcase
According to Tom Warren from The Verge, Doom fans should mark June 9, 2024 thick in their calendars. The journalist assumes that Microsoft will announce a part of the series during the event – even if he phrases this somewhat cryptically in his article
“Microsoft will focus on some new game announcements and lift the doom surrounding the Xbox. “
The spelling is crucial here, because Warren spells “Doom” with a capital “D”, so he means the game and not the noun “doom”, which would otherwise start with a small letter.
On request from a user via X, formerly Twitter, Warren even confirms the reference again with a meme from the well-known sitcom Friends.

As we learned in September 2023, a new Doom has been on the release calendar of the responsible publisher Bethesda for quite some time.
The game has the working title Doom Year Zero and was planned for the 2023 fiscal year. However, the list was already three years old at the time of the leak, which means that the schedules are very likely no longer up to date. However, it also shows that a new Doom was already planned beforehand.
Bethesda’s parent company Zenimax (acquired by Microsoft in 2021) also had the brand name “IDKFA “ officially protected in January 2024
These letters are a Cheatcode from Doom 1 and 2, which grants the player all keys, weapons and full ammunition. So it’s another hint that something is coming to Doom.
Doom Eternal is already four years old and the two DLCs released were released three years ago.
