Rockstar Games, known and infamous for gaming blockbusters like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, is creating excitement among fans as they wait for news about upcoming titles. While GTA 6 has already been announced, an official announcement for a sequel to Red Dead Redemption has been lacking. However, a recent Microsoft leak has revealed interesting things: A next-gen upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2 could be in the works.
The information comes from a leaked May 2022 email exchange between Microsoft executiveswho provided insight into outside developer studio plans. This time, Rockstar Games was the focus. According to the emails, the studio was apparently planning to develop Next-Gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 for the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X . The release should likely occur during or shortly after the second quarter of fiscal year 2023 of Take-Two
Although the fiscal year ended on September 30, 2022, no revised version of Red Dead Redemption 2 has been released yet. It’s unclear if Rockstar postponed the release or scrapped plans for the upgrade. Rockstar is known for keeping information about new releases top secret. Still, fans would certainly welcome a next-gen version of RDR2 with improved graphics, performance, and shorter load times if it does make an appearance in the future. So the hope for an update of the popular western role-playing game remains.
