The turn-based strategy Jagged Alliance 3 will be released in July 2023, as the trailer reveals. But that”s not the only info in the video.

Jagged Alliance will be back soon! Where previously there was only talk of the third quarter of 2023, we now know more precisely: on 14 July Jagged Alliance 3 will be released, as the developers reveal in the trailer. But the four-minute video shows even more what we can look forward to in the summer.

What”s in the trailer

Self-deprecatingly, as Jagged Alliance is, the trailer first pokes fun at the weak spin-offs – but of course also highlights the outstanding main games. Jagged Alliance 3 is a turn-based strategy comparable to games like XCOM or Mutant Year Zero. But as the video makes clear, Studio Haemimont Games” upcoming game does one classic genre trait in particular differently.

  • No percentage comparison: In Jagged Alliance 3, we are not shown what percentage we hit our target – quite unlike most other round tactics games. Instead, we have to think for ourselves about how advantageous the situation is for us: Do we have the height advantage? Is our opponent standing in cover? What are the visibility conditions? Are there objects in our way? From the experience gained, we should then assess for ourselves whether we should dare to take the shot.
  • Playing characters have their own personalities: The different characters in Jagged Alliance 3 should not only play differently because of their abilities, but also according to their personality traits. For example, those who are not team players will have a hard time convincing other characters to join them.
  • Open World: An open game world is quite unusual for a turn-based tactics game, but Jagged Alliance 3 wants to master this endeavour. The civilians in the world can be sympathetic to you if you treat them with enough respect. You can also steal from them, but then you will have to expect a counterattack sooner or later.

To ensure that Jagged Alliance fans of the first hour get their money”s worth, among others, the development veteran and series creator Ian Currie is involved in the project.
