The new update for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is comparatively small, but it has a lot to offer: the hardcore game mode is now available. There are also bug fixes.

Have you finally finished Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? Have you just got used to modern life with hot running water and power sockets again?Well, with the new patch 1.2.4, Warhorse wants to drag you straight back to Bohemia. And deeper into it than ever before. Because from now on there’s even more immersion. Plus, Henry can finally go bald.

We’ll summarize the most important changes, starting with the new Hard Mode. You can find the patch notes on page 2 of the article.

What’s in the patch

With Hardcore Mode, your medieval life becomes harder and more credible. In this case, the two are directly related: many comfort features are no longer available (not that Kingdom Come 2 ever had many of them), but there are hardly any HUD displays to distract you.

It works almost exactly like in the predecessor: you have to choose whether you want to play normally or hardcore when you start a new game. Then you pick up to ten negative perks that limit Heinrich – maybe he can’t carry as much because of a bad back and sometimes gets lumbago when picking herbs. You can find a complete overview of the perks here.
On this difficulty level, you don’t see yourself on the map, you have to ask NPCs for directions and orient yourself in the world. In addition, there are no displays for parry time slots, strike directions, health, and stamina. Fast travel? Nope. The official video gives you a good impression:

New hair style: The Bohemian barbers have learned the art of balding, Henry can now go completely bald.

Mods: If your game crashed because you exceeded the number of mods, this should be fixed by the patch.

Bug-Fixes: Some quest bugs and Heinrich skill issues have also been fixed.

When is the next big update coming? No date has been set yet, but we expect one in a few weeks. After all, Warhorse has stated that it still wants to release all major patches and the three DLCs for Kingdom Come 2 in 2025, in order to devote itself to the next game starting next year.

Hardcore mode is the second of three features that Warhorse is adding for free for everyone after the release. The latest patch 1.2 brought the barber with new hairstyles and beards for Henry. In the future, even more sophisticated horse races are to follow, with challenges such as shooting from horseback. There is no date for this yet.
