Kingdom Come 2: Whatever you do in the medieval sandbox is damn funny – and a bit worrying

Instead of pursuing the main story, many fans find unexpected things to do in Bohemia: they kidnap bandits, run a flourishing glove trade or conduct social experiments.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 invites you to experiment: The many dynamic systems allow you to do a lot of nonsense, to which the world then reacts appropriately. For example, you can solve a challenging main quest surprisingly easily by knocking out a friend.

Many of you don’t even get that far because you get sidetracked by more outlandish pursuits. We understand that to a certain extent, having started a chamomile tea empire and chatting with death ourselves. But some of the things fans do are truly absurd. And very entertaining.

“Do you ever get so bored that you drag unconscious bandits to the nearest village and watch them fight with the inhabitants?” asks a fan. We can’t say that now, but his video about it is still really funny. It also shows how interesting the AI can be: a guard punches with his fists and only reaches for his weapon when the bandit proves to be a surprisingly tough opponent.

Steam user Markco’s endeavor is a little more disturbing. He is about to plunge the entire village of Troskowitz into ruin, build himself a literal mountain of corpses, and has big plans for the future. Well, um.

All for science

A social experiment that you can easily imitate is much less worrying. It works best if you have already discovered the city of Kutna Hora, because that’s where most of the NPCs are and where different social classes come into contact with each other.

When you drop a bunch of items, the different characters help themselves. There are striking differences in behavior, which the developers have now explained: nobles usually only deign to pick up something very valuable. Beggars, on the other hand, grab everything they can get their hands on. Here you can see it in time lapse:

And and and…

As many have already discovered, the fastest way to get rich in Kingdom Come 2 is through crime. It has almost become standard practice for some players to plunder entire settlements. But in the medieval world, it’s also worth your while to kill lots of bandits and sell their equipment. Because the merchants in Kuttenberg only have a limited amount of cash, many lurk around them every morning when the money bags have been reset. Something like this:

Gloves are particularly popular in the current 1403 economy because they are worth a lot and weigh very little. Will the upcoming major patch 1.2 change that? The developers have already announced in a stream that they want to gradually improve the economy in the game so that you can’t get filthy rich so easily anymore!

And then, of course, there are the completionists among you who meticulously work through every side quest before continuing with the main story. But you don’t have to be so afraid of missing out! As in Kingdom Come 1, you can still take on most of the missions even after the finale. You can read more about this (spoiler-free) above!
