LEGO Horizon Adventures was announced during the 2024 Summer Games Fest. Surprisingly, the title will not only be released on PlayStation 5 and PC. A Switch version will also be released. In an interview withVGCdeveloper Guerrilla Games explains this decision.

Guerrilla Games has explained that the decision to release LEGO Horizon Adventures on the Nintendo Switch was “a natural fit”. The Switch allows it to reach a broader audience. The Switch allows for simple control schemes, such as playing with a single Joy-Con. Story and themes have also been simplified and enriched with humor to make the gaming experience more enjoyable. This makes the game accessible to a wide audience.

LEGO Horizon Adventures: What to expect

LEGO Horizon Adventures offers a playful and light story inspired by the events of the Horizon world. According to James Windeler, a narrative director at Guerrilla, the game has been in development for about three years. The studio’s enthusiasm for LEGO was a key factor in the project.

The game prototyped the first machines of Horizon Zero Dawn with Duplo. These came about mainly because many developers at Guerrilla are big LEGO fans. This is another reason for the LEGO collaboration. The game promises to transform this passion into an entertaining and accessible gaming experience. In addition, the world of Horizon is characterized by its colorful, bright design, which fits perfectly into the LEGO setting.

The machines and landscapes in Horizon also provide a rich basis for LEGO building. The developers wanted to create a game that was more optimistic and hopeful than the main games in the Horizon series.

The iconic protagonist from Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West will uncover numerous secrets and fight against impressive machine creatures in LEGO Horizon Adventures, either solo or in online or couch co-op with a fellow player

The first trailer of the action-adventure game jointly developed by Guerrilla and Studio Gobo, which was presented at the Summer Game Fest, already shows how the title combines the gameplay, story and game world of Horizon with the charming humor and creativity of LEGO. For example, it will be possible to give the village of Mother Heart a new look with decorations and thus unlock unique LEGO buildings and ornaments
