Soulslike games are considered the hardest games there are. Lies of P should finally change that.

Whoever thinks of hard grind and difficult enemies automatically thinks of Soulslike games. Games like the Dark Souls series or Sekiro have already pushed some fans to the limit. Lies of P is now set to change that.

This is Lies of P

Lies of P is an action role-playing game that turns the story of Pinocchio on its head and reinterprets it. As a mechanical doll, you have to fight your way through the dark fantasy city of Krat. Your goal is to finally become a human being. To do so, however, you must lie.

Your decisions and interactions with other characters will affect the gameplay. You can also find all kinds of weapons in the game world that you can adapt to your play style. Pinocchio’s puppet limbs are also interchangeable, allowing you to learn new abilities. Of course, difficult enemies are not neglected either.

Lies of P, which will be released on 19 September for consoles and PC, promises everything that the Soulslike heart desires and seems to be one of the highlights at gamescom 2023

Lies of P – the Soulslike for everyone?

While games like Sekiro or Dark Souls are among the hardest games there are, Elden Ring 2022 has already shown that there are also possibilities in the Soulslike genre to make a game beginner-friendly.

Developer NEOWIZ Games also wants to strike in this direction with Lies of P, but at the same time offer Soulslike veterans the usual level of difficulty. But does it work that easily?

Our editor Lea was able to play the game at gamescom. She has already played Soulslikes and can classify the games accordingly.

“I found it very atmospheric, but I’m not sure if it’s really suitable for beginners. It’s easier than other Soulslike games I’ve played, but not as much,” Lea explains after her session.

As a plus point for newcomers, she sees the different weapons that can be adapted to one’s own play style. This makes it easier to get into the game. Lea also describes the combat system as intuitive, which suits inexperienced Soulslike players.

The difficulty level remains enormously high – as is usual for the genre. Therefore, for Lea it is also clear:

It’s still just a Soulslike. I think there is no such thing as a simple Soulslike
