Nobody would have expected this. Completely surprisingly, developer Blowfish Studios revealed that they were working Shadowman: Darque Legacy. This is the continuation of a 24 year old and long forgotten series. We summarize the little information we have so far for you.
This is what is known about Shadow Man: Darque Legacy so far
Back in 1999, Acclaim Entertainment released the first Shadow Man game, which was based on the comics of the same name and was available for Sega Dreamcast as well as Nintendo 64. The plot revolved around the interplay between the world of the living (Liveside) and the dead (Deadside). Three years later, the sequel Shadow Man: Second Coming was released for the PS2.
In the brand new Shadowman 3, you take on the role of the still inexperienced Shadowman Jack Boniface, who bravely fights against evil, but also has a lot to learn. Once again, the Deadside realm plays an important role and the protagonist must face a variety of vile and deadly creatures. So Shadowman: Darque Legacy will most likely be an action-adventure like it is written in the book. Mutants, all kinds of monsters and deadly cultists will stand in our hero’s way. You can already soak up the atmosphere for this in the announcement trailer.
Even though it doesn’t reveal much, it’s good news for many fans of the series, as Shadowman was an extremely popular and successful game at the time.
The developers at Blowfish describe the battles in Shadowman: Darque Legacy as “challenging, but rewarding”. The battles are intense and require both skill and strategy to defeat the fearsome creatures. Particularly elaborately staged boss fights present the player with additional challenges and require a high degree of tactical thinking.
Another important element of the game is the interaction between the Liveside and the Darkside. While the two realms are basically similar in structure, they differ in many details. Discovering these differences is not only important for understanding the story, but also for overcoming the numerous obstacles and puzzles that await Jack Boniface on his adventure.
The release of Shadowman: Darkque Legacy is so far set for 2024, there is no concrete date at this point, but we can probably expect more details about the surprise project soon. The PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms are already scheduled for release so far.
