Lost Rockstar game reportedly shelved years ago

Bully 2 is said to have been shelved, according to a Game Informer report. Rumours, however, continue to predict news.

According to the report, the sequel to Rockstar’s classic Bully was shelved years ago, even though it was already six to eight hours playable. At that time, other games such as Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption had priority for the GTA developer. This information is largely consistent with rumours from 2019.

As (Game Informer) claims to have learned from former employees, Bully 2 was to have relied on a reputation system that was eventually used in a similar way in Red Dead Redemption 2. For example, pranks at school would have changed one’s reputation, which would also have had an effect on the further course of the story.

Even if Bully 2 was cancelled in this form, at least this idea made its way into developer Rockstar’s DNA. But that doesn’t seem to be the end of the Bully storyline.

Contradictory rumours

There is a rumour circulating on the internet about Bully 2, which was started by the well-known (and often well-informed) Tom Henderson.

According to this rumour, some people had been shown a new version of the game, which was explicitly not the version that had been discontinued. In a recent reply to his own tweet, however, Henderson thinks it’s possible that the version mentioned was the old, discontinued version of Bully 2 after all.

This sounds contradictory and, according to Henderson, is based on the fact that he is only getting fragmentary information. For the insider, however, the timing of his information is important: Since the new version of the game appeared shortly before the Game Awards 2021, he had expected a surprise announcement at the show. That failed to materialise, as we know, which is why the insider is now also wondering whether Rockstar could be up to something and, if so, what with Bully.

Henderson previously stated that the information seemed a bit hazy at the moment, but that he wanted to share it anyway. He believes that something is definitely happening with the presumed Bully 2. What exactly that could be, an announcement or even a release soon, however, remains open.

GTA 6: The most important leaks and rumours so far

Rockstar Games is known for being extremely tight-lipped. Reliable information about future titles, such as Grand Theft Auto 6, rarely comes to light, despite the bubbling rumour mill. What information about GTA 6 is currently circulating and what is likely, you can read in the article above.
