Luma Island was released on Steam on November 20, 2024, and was able to attract a respectable number of players for an indie title in the first few days after release: at peak times, over 20,000 players ventured into the farming sim at the same time. The first reviews are also positive, with eighty percent of the ratings being positive.

Luma Island is reminiscent of Stardew Valley and shares some of the same basic gameplay principles as its role model, but it also does some things differently. For example, the game does without stamina as a gameplay mechanic and also lets you save without going to sleep first.
