One of the most valuable Magic cards of all time has been sold to one of the world’s most famous Magic fans after it was found.
What an incredible treasure! With the new Lord of the Rings set for Magic: The Gathering, Wizards of the Coast also released a version of The One Ring that exists only once in the entire world. Which, of course, fits the theme perfectly and, above all, attracted thousands of treasure hunters.
The map was found a few weeks ago, and now the lucky guy has turned his find into a real treasure – the map has been sold to a world-famous rapper and Magic fan.
Rapper buys ring
On Twitter, the finder of the card, Brook Trafton, who comes from Canada, shares a video in which he happily hands over the card to its new owner. The new owner is none other than the well-known rapper Post Malone.
This is my dream come true, meeting @PostMalone and him buying the One Ring card from me is literally a moment straight out of a fairytale. @PostMalone @wizards_magic you’ve changed my life. Things like this don’t happen to people like me. Forever grateful 🙏 ✨ mtg onering pic.twitter.com/VMBlDA1HdD

This is my dream come true. Meeting Post Malone and selling him the One Ring card is a moment like in a fairy tale. Post Malone, Wizards of the Coast, you changed my life. Things like this don’t happen to people like me. Forever grateful.
Post Malone has long been known in the MTG community as a prominent fan of the card game, and ended up with a considerable fortune as a well-known musician and producer. That was also necessary to get this extremely rare card.
Already before, many personalities and companies showed interest in buying the card. In the run-up, there was an offer from Spain of no less than 2 million euros However, it is not known how much money Post Malone has actually put on the table for the One Ring.
How was it found?
It came out as early as the beginning of July that someone had found the extremely rare card. Book Trafton held off on a quick sale, however, and waited for the offers to come in first. Dexerto magazine (interviewed the ring bearer) and wanted to know how he came into possession of the card.
Here Trafton tells us that he had actually pre-ordered a collector’s box of the set, which was ready for collection on 17 July. However, he woke up early on 16 June and wandered into the shop at opening time. Here he bought two collector’s boxes and found the One Ring in the sixth booster pack. By the way, this is what the card looks like:
What do you think of the complete story? Do you begrudge the finder of the map his luck? Do you think such a treasure hunt in the MTG community is purposeful or rather problematic? Do you think Wizards of the Coast will make this a regular thing and produce such rare versions of a map more often? Post it in the comments!
