Some of Nintendo’s classics have already made it away from the in-house consoles to the smartphone with a version. In one of these games, dataminers have now even found possible clues to the release of a PC game.
With Mario Kart Tour for the smartphone, a spin-off of the classic has been available since 25 September 2019, which also manages without the typical Nintendo controllers. In the game data of this game, dataminers made discoveries on Tuesday that could point to an upcoming PC version.
Follow up/Datamining: They have added the mouse as a new input mode. Please note that this is speculation and may never be available to the public. Maybe it’s only for the developers to use. MarioKartTour

As the screenshots in this tweet from the Mario Kart (Tour) News channel show, the use of a mouse and keyboard appears to have been added to the code. Other places in the code indicate that the game is being prepared for Windows 11
Google fuelled rumours
With such a version of the game, Nintendo would make a cross-platform leap to the PC for the first time, alongside iOS and Android. Rumours of a PC version of the racing game had already existed before, when Google announced its own Play Store for Windows, in which Android games would also be available. This is supposed to happen this year.
