In Kingmakers, you plunge into medieval battles, but instead of a sword and shield, you wield a shotgun and grenade launcher. Fire at will, my lord
Who brings an assault rifle to a sword fight? Well, you do! And that’s in Kingmakers. The game from developer Redemption Road Games is a medieval sandbox for all those who attacked the Lego knight’s castle as children with the G.I. Joe action figure. However, it not only mixes eras, but also genres
Kingmakers – the king’s new Kalashnikov
The mix of third-person shooter and strategy game is set to be released on Steam in 2024 and will initially go into Early Access. Before we explain exactly what Kingmakers is, it’s best to watch the trailer first
How does Kingmakers play?
- The somewhat different history lesson: As your world is threatened by the apocalypse in the present, you travel about 500 years into the past of medieval England. There you want to change the course of history and avert the impending doom.
- Violent battles: There are thousands of soldiers in the battles. You switch seamlessly from the third-person view to a strategy mode and can give orders to units of archers, horsemen and swordsmen.
- Assault rifle instead of two-handed weapon: You have machine guns, shotguns, grenade launchers and snipers at your disposal. You can also use armored SUVs and motorcycles. Air strikes and combat helicopters provide even more firepower.
- Real alliances: You don’t have to play Kingmakers alone. You can play online in co-op with up to four players. Of course, everyone brings their own army.
- Build an empire: Another strategy game part is the expansion of a castle. You can place buildings such as a forge, but also strengthen your defenses with walls and towers.
There are no more concrete plans for the release yet and exact details about the gameplay are not yet available right after the first announcement. How do you like the concept of Kingmakers?
