Will he ever be seen as 007 on the big screen? The actor isn’t so sure

Cavill and Bond:  A new, unofficial James Bond trailer has gone viral in recent days and has reignited the discussion about Henry Cavil as Agent 007

But the former Witcher actor doubts in an interview whether he will ever play James Bond.

Too old for 007?

What happened? The YouTube channel KH Studios uploaded a trailer a few days ago, which has now collected 2.7 million clicks (as of April 19, 2024).

The trailer shows Henry Cavil as James Bond and Margot Robbie in a supporting female role. However, the scenes shown are not real and, according to the maker, were partly generated with AI:

“Please note that this video is a concept trailer created solely for artistic and entertainment purposes. I have carefully integrated various effects, sound design, AI technologies, film analysis and other elements to bring my vision to life. “

Excitement despite AI: Even though the trailer doesn’t show a real James Bond film, a discussion about Henry Cavill as James Bond has arisen in the comments

Many fans would like to see the former Superman actor in a Bond film.

Cavill was in talks to play Bond: Henry Cavill has already auditioned for “Casino Royale” as 007, but the role went to Daniel Craig at the time.

The audition wasn’t enough to play Bond at the time, but he comes very close to playing the role in an upcoming film. He will play the historical figure Gus March-Phillips in “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare”. He is said to have been a great inspiration for Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond.

Will there still be something with the 007 role?  Cavill answered this question during an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show” when the presenter asked if there was anything new in this regard. Cavill probably wasn’t so sure it was going to work out:

“I have no idea. I can only go by the rumors. I have the same information as you. Maybe I’m too old now, maybe I’m not. We’ll see what the [producers’] plans are. “

Martin Campbell, the director of “Casino Royale”, revealed in an interview last year that he liked Cavill’s performance as Bond very much, but there was a problem:

“He looked great in the audition. His acting was great. And if it wasn’t for Daniel, Henry would have been a great Bond. He looked fantastic, he was in great physical shape… very handsome, very edgy. He just looked a bit too young at the time. “

Does Campbell think Cavill can play Bond today? The director is keeping a low profile, but you shouldn’t get your hopes up too high:

“Henry is 40, so he’ll be 50 when he’s done with the third movie, and anything beyond that is two, three years per Bond “

This leads to the assumption that Henry is indeed too old, if Campbell or other people involved are anything to go by. But that’s certainly not set in stone yet
