The role-playing game Wartales is getting an extensive add-on this year – and you won’t be dragging your feet in it anymore
It’s one of the big Steam hits of 2023: In the GlobalESportNews review, we didn’t want to stop writing praise about the open-world role-playing game Wartales! And Wartales also has an incredible 91 percent positive reviews on Steam
At the end of the year, the title is now setting off again into completely new realms: into the pirate region of Belerion!
The DLC, which is thematically completely dedicated to the scoundrels of the sea, will be released on December 14, 2023 for just under 20 euros

Wartales, Pirates of Belerion
The addon will be called Pirates of Belerion
and is already available (on Steam in the shop). Pirates of Belerion will unsurprisingly bring mainly nautical-themed content to the game
So you can explore the island world using a modifiable sailing ship before going ashore on the beach of your (nightmarish) dreams. And there, of course, all kinds of new enemies are up to mischief in unexplored environments
And although such a boat trip can be more relaxing than a day-long walk, you need to be able to navigate the winds. Because the weather will play a decisive role in your travels
The final goal in the new region is to rise through the ranks of the kings of the sea. To do this, you will of course engage in plenty of battles: you will board other ships at sea as real pirates
Captains can also be challenged to duels – or you can fight your usual battles on the wooden planks in the middle of the ocean.
Aside from all the battles, there will also be one or two treasures to unearth. A total of around 25 hours of content will be added.
A free update will accompany the game
The DLC appears in good company. In addition to the paid seafaring content, the basic game will also be extensively updated. The following will be added:
- a new class
- new weapon types and items
- new enemies for existing factions
- Customization options for skin color, hair and facial hair
- further quality improvements

Tip for all Game Pass users: If you are a Microsoft subscriber, you can watch and play the base game directly via Game Pass.
However, even here you will have to pay extra if you want to go to Belerion. Because add-ons and DLCs are almost never part of the subscription service.
