The release is scheduled for November 7, 2024, but for those who can’t wait, the Deluxe Edition offers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the post-apocalyptic world of Metro two days earlier. Metro Awakening: A glimpse into the post-apocalyptic future
The official announcement was made during Sony’s State of Play Showcase, where a new trailer introduced the gripping gameplay and compelling storyline of Metro Awakening for the first time. Developed by Vertigo Games in association with Deep Silver, the game promises to draw players deep into the gritty and unforgiving world of the Metro, this time in an even more immersive VR experience. Legendary character’s origin story
Metro Awakening is based on the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky and serves as a standalone prequel to Metro 2033. The storyline focuses on the origins of one of the most intriguing characters in the series: Khan.
Players take on the role of Serdar, a doctor who is on a desperate search for his missing wife. As Serdar delves deeper into the harsh and dangerous world of the Metro, he is pushed to the limits of his physical and mental endurance. Eventually, he transforms into Khan, a mystical figure whose supernatural insight and spiritual wisdom make him a central leader in the Metro world. Metro Awakening will be available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation VR2 , Meta Quest 2 and 3 and Steam VR This makes the game widely accessible to VR gamers and Metro fans worldwide. However, those who wish to pre-order via Viveport will have to wait until the official release date, as pre-orders are not available on this platform.
Deluxe Edition: Early Access and exclusive content
With the announcement of the upcoming release, details of the different editions of Metro Awakening were also revealed. In addition to the Standard Edition, fans can choose between a Deluxe Edition, which not only offers additional in-game content but also a 48-hour early access period (only on PS VR2 and Steam VR) starting November 5.
The Deluxe Edition of Metro Awakening costs 49.99 € and includes, in addition to early access, the exclusive “Field Medic” package. This package includes, among other things, a “Field Medic” backpack skin, a “Bear Keepsake” backpack pendant, a “Medic Badge” patch and the “Healing Hands” glove skin. Additionally, Deluxe Edition pre-orders will receive the Memories of Polyanka Bundle, which offers further exclusive content such as the Nosalis Hide backpack skin and access to a digital VR Concept Art Gallery.
Pre-orders are now available on PS VR2, Meta Quest, and Steam VR. However, Viveport users will have to wait until the official release on November 7, as pre-orders are not available there.
