Microsoft wants to bring one of the best console features to the PC too

So far, this feature only exists on consoles, but Microsoft could soon change that.

Those who like to play on consoles have known about the function for a long time and probably very few would want to do without it today: Quick Resume.

The possibility to “end” games at any time in order to start again at the same point is one of the most practical functions of consoles. It allows you to jump straight into a past game session without loading times.

Quick Resume on PC?

At the launch event for the Steam deck competitor Asus ROG Ally, Roanne Sones, head of Xbox devices, dropped a hint that Quick Resume could be coming to Windows PCs in the future.

She also talks about linking this feature between a PC and devices, like the ROG Ally. So you should be able to finish a game on the computer and open it again in the same place on the handheld. But unfortunately this is only an idea that was in the room during the discussion.

According to (The Verge) she already mentioned something similar in April – also at a ROG Ally event.

First device testers are mostly enthusiastic, but also find fault with some Windows displays and features that are not adapted to a small screen.

Microsoft”s focus on bringing games from the console to Windows could help change that. For now, it”s unclear whether discussions will focus on individual games or operating system-level changes.

Windows has recently already been working on a (handheld mode for Windows) . However, this has been done in the course of a staff hackathon. This means that there is probably not much that is ready to be announced yet.

The assumption is that Microsoft will change something about the situation quite quickly, however. The popularity of the Steam Deck and the initial enthusiasm for the ROG Ally will not be ignored by Microsoft.

How would you like to see Quick Resume come to Windows? Do you miss the feature on your computer, or is it more of a console thing? Feel free to write us in the comments!
