Monster Hunter Wilds: Developers adjust Ranked rewards after criticism

After criticism from the community, the rewards for time-based competition quests in Monster Hunter Wilds are being adjusted.

Monster Hunter Wilds recently received its first major content update. Title Update 1 introduced a new hunting mode in addition to a new monster: the time-based competitive quests.

In addition to arena quests and free challenges, there are also so-called challenge quests. These are time-limited tasks in which you have to defeat a monster with given equipment as quickly as possible. Those who make it into the top ranks receive various rewards. So it’s basically a ranked mode.

mode had problems with cheaters

As is the case with many online games, cheaters do not stop at Monster Hunter Wilds. And certainly not at the new ranked mode. As a result, some hunters who were really VERY fast (or still are) were already taking the top spots after a short time:

It’s no wonder that the honest hunters were a little annoyed by the situation. Especially since there was a reward in the form of a pendant only for the top 10,000 players.

Developers simplify reward process

As you can see in the tweet embedded above, the developers are now responding to criticism from the community and are adjusting the rewards as a first step. Now, you no longer have to be among the top 10,000 to get the highest reward, but simply achieve a very good time.

In the future, rewards will not be linked to leaderboard positions either. Of course, this takes away some of the ranking mode character, but it solves the other problems. At the same time, the developers announced that they would take a closer look at the weird times. If cheaters are identified, sanctions will follow.

Community cheers, to some extent

The fact that the problem is now being addressed has been met with much love in the Monster Hunter community. Some even go so farand say that even without cheaters, the changes make sense in order to enable non-pro hunters to receive rewards as well.

Others, of course, now mourn the loss of the challenge that the changes have brought. Your list position no longer affects the rewards, which of course means that some prestige is lost in terms of attracting followers.

Either way, the community almost unanimously sees the fact that action is being taken against cheaters as an important and appropriate signal.

What do you think of the changes? Do you think they are right or should action against cheaters be taken elsewhere or by other means? Let us know in the comments! We look forward to reading your opinions.
