Role-playing game becomes strategy. Modder Bloc completely turns Mount & Blade 2 upside down and uses role models such as Age Of Empires.
The medieval role-playing game Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlords boasts heaps of good reviews on (Steam) and has won over many players. Now a modder has taken on the task of completely turning the role-playing game upside down and making a strategy game out of it.

We liked the strategic approach even back then, even if there were still a few construction sites here and there!

Mount & Blade 2: Huge Game of Thrones mod is finally playable

Roleplay becomes strategy

Strategy hits as great role models: The ambitious mod focuses entirely on strategy and brings with it many gameplay mechanics that you should know from genre colleagues such as Age of Empires or The Settlers. As befits a strategy game, in this mod you can manage resources, construct buildings and, of course, also create units and command them.

In addition, there are also different epochs that you have to pass through in order to unlock new technologies. However, the modder has placed the main focus on the AI, so that they can also act independently and build a city organically.

This is what the first gameplay looks like: Bloc presents how it should play in a 24-minute playthrough:

It remains Mount & Blade 2: However, the modder wants to keep the spirit of Mount & Blade 2, which is why it is possible to switch back to the third-person view in order to be able to fight in the battles in real time. Fortunately, he is not completely alone in this and thanks above all the two users FoozieMcDoozle and Errayn, who have largely taken care of the modelling of buildings and characters.

But according to the roadmap, the developers of Mount Blade 2 themselves also want to provide more strategy in their role-playing game in the future!

Release and costs: Bloc has not yet revealed a release date for the mod, but he shares progress relatively often on his (YouTube-Channel). It is also not yet known whether the mod will cost anything or whether it will be freely available to everyone. Although the modder also has a (Patreon website), he only sells certain gimmicks for his Discord or pre-recordings of his videos there.
