The streamer had made disparaging comments about the dramatic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. Now his secondary channel has been banned, and he is not allowed to stream on the main account either.

Update from October 17: The well-known streamer Asmongold was temporarily banned from Twitch after a tirade in which he called Palestinians terrible peopleand their culture asinferior, was temporarily banned from Twitch.

Now he has uploaded a twenty-minute apology video:

Among other things, the streamer confirmed that he is resigning from his leadership positions at the streaming organization OTK and the complete PC provider Starforge.

I need to get it together. I need to get my head under control. I need to get my damn life together. It’s crazy. I think about it – it’s just all messed up. Everything in my life is basically messed up.

I’m going to step down from my leadership position at OTK and Starforge and everything else. They don’t have a problem with it – they respect that, and I want to do this. I want to do this not just for them, but mostly for myself, so I can be a better version of myself.

He also announced that he wants to work on his streaming content as well:

My plan is that when I’m no longer banned, I’ll continue to stream regularly, and I want to focus more on doing fun things and laughing with people more than at people. It’s about focus, and it’s about tone.

I listened to my tone in this clip and I just sounded like a piece of shit. I don’t want to be that person anymore.

Original report from October 16:

Zack Hoyt, who streams under the name “Asmongold”, has been banned from Twitch. The ban, which affects his second account “zackrawrr”, was issued after the streamer made inhumane comments about the Palestinian victims of the Gaza conflict.

His other account is not directly affected, but Twitch’s policies state that you cannot avoid a ban by streaming on an alternative account. Effectively, this means that streaming is banned for the time being.

What the streamer said before the ban

Asmongold spoke about the numerous victims of the conflict between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas, which is being fought in the Gaza Strip. According to the United Nations (UN), more than 40,000 Palestinians were killed in the counteroffensive after the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, most of them women and children.

The streamer expressed himself with the following, clearly inhuman words about the victims on the Palestinian side. Among other things, he stated that he had no sympathy for the mass murder of people who had Sharia in their laws. Furthermore, he said:

I don’t give a shit about that [Editor’s note: he is referring to the issue of genocide and the people living in Gaza]. They are horrible people. This is not even a debate. It’s crazy that people don’t see it that way. They would do the same.

These people are not your allies. They are not like us. They are from an inferior culture that is terrible. They kill people for who they are and it is in direct opposition to everything that Western values stand for, and it is an inferior culture in every way. It’s as simple as that. No, I have no regrets for them, I have no pity for them, I don’t care.

According to the Twitch guidelines, racist, inhuman, prejudiced and hateful comments are prohibited.

After massive public criticism of his statements, including from numerous well-known streamers and influencers such as hbomberguy, M1das and Hasanabi, Asmongold posted a post on X (formerly Twitter):

In retrospect, I was a much bigger asshole than I should have been about Palestine. My bad. Of course, no one deserves to have their life destroyed, even if they do things or hold views that I find regressive. You deserve better than me saying stupid stuff like that. I’ll do better.

In the comments, many criticize that this is not an apology and that the post sounds more like calculated damage control than sincere remorse.

According to on ‘s Twitch ban will be for 14 days.

Asmongold was already temporarily banned in 2017 for his comments about Hurricane Katrina. He explicitly refused to apologize. Hoyt justified the fact that he is apologizing now by saying that he would have no problem with an apology if he was really wrong.

With over 5 million followers on Twitch alone, he is one of the biggest streamers worldwide.
