The horror game Code Violet is only coming to the PlayStation 5 because the developers don’t want mods with sexual content.
There are many reasons to develop a game for only one platform. Sometimes it can be for technical reasons, or a studio may lack the personnel or expertise to do justice to another. Avoiding nude mods is definitely new, but that’s precisely why Teamkill Media is foregoing a PC version of the horror shooter with dinosaurs, Code Violet
A Question of Art
In a post on X, which, by the way, is the studio’s most successful social media post, Teamkill Media rejects questions about a PC version. The statement reads:
For those asking about a PC version of Code Violet: The reason we are not bringing it to PC is that we do not want anyone modding vulgar versions of the main character or other characters in the game.
We have great respect for our voice actors and actresses, as well as for our artistic vision for the game and story, and we reject any form of destruction of that vision through sexual mods.

X-UserKSquad writes: “I will not support a developer who blacklists an entire platform because of such a niche segment of the modding community.”
The comment from SuperArtFinish is along the same lines: “How can a developer make a statement like this, indirectly calling players perverts and then expecting those same players to buy the game on console? Who is the actual target audience?”
Hylian Hero questions the basic assumption of the reputation damage: »When has a mod ever damaged anyone’s reputation or name? Well, thanks for letting us all know to avoid this game in advance.«
Can Teamkill Media do without PC?
It’s not possible to paint a complete picture of the two PC games so far, but there is reliable data for Steam. The game debut
The last game releasedSon and Bone (2024) has, according to SteamDB, the same number of reviews as the player peak: four. It is unknown how both games are doing on the Epic Games Store.
So it is PlayStation after all? With Quantum Error (2023), Teamkill Media has already released a Sony-exclusive game. According to Metacrtic, however, it was a flop with critics (rating average 40) and players (user score 3.8) alike.
Of course, this doesn’t say anything about the quality of Code Violet. The game is scheduled for release in July 2025 and only for the PlayStation 5. Whether the statement on X is based on a newly found philosophy or a PR stunt, it cannot be said.
