We”re back to show you this week”s most exciting new releases on Steam.

The last Diablo 4 beta is over and the final release is still three weeks away – so now we can all focus on other games for a moment. But which ones? You can find out every Monday with us. There are a few exciting games coming out on Steam this week – including the sequel to a cult horror game series.

Highlight of the week: The Outlast Trials

Genre: (Co-op) Horror – Developer: Red Barrels – Release: May 18, 2023 (Steam/Early Access)

Ten years ago, Outlast, one of the scariest games of all time, was released. The horror trip as well as its DLC Whistleblower enjoy cult status among fans of scary games to this day, and on Steam it is one of the top-rated horror games with 96 percent positive ratings and over 70,000 votes.

The Outlast Trials, the sequel, is released this week. While in the first two parts you took on the role of an investigative journalist and experienced a thrilling story, in the third part you are a prisoner, which you can even create yourself in the character editor.

You then have to face the eponymous trials alone or together with up to three friends. You can imagine these like Left4Dead. You have to achieve various goals and reach the end of the level alive.

There is no shooting, however, as you are used to in Outlast, you have to hide or flee from the creepy AI enemies that patrol the levels and sometimes surprise you. In between rounds, you can invest the money you earn from playing the game in upgrades and skins.

Other Releases of the Week

Monday, May 15

(Cook Serve Forever (Early Access): As an aspiring chef, you must make a name for yourself in a solarpunk town. Solarpunk, by the way, is an optimistic counter-design to dystopian cyberpunk. Was supposed to be released last week, but was postponed again on the day of release.

(Trail of Ayash (Early Access): Open-world role-playing game with a cool Indian setting, in which supernatural enemies also await you.

Tuesday, May 16

(Tin Hearts): Puzzle adventure with tin soldiers from the makers of Fable.

(SubwaySim Hamburg): Here you can jet through Hamburg as the driver of the U3 line and admire famous landmarks such as the Landungsbrücken or the Elbphilharmonie.

Wednesday, 17 May

(Starship Troopers: Extermination (Early Access): In this co-op shooter you can shoot your way through hundreds of bugs with up to 16 players. Because you know: only a dead bug is a good bug!

(Greedventory): A rather unusual role-playing game controlled solely by mouse gestures.

Thursday, 18 May

(Veiled Experts (Early Access): Korean Free2Play Hero Shooter.

Friday, 19 May

(Lego 2K Drive): An open-world racing game à la Forza Horizon, but in a Lego world where you can of course also assemble your own vehicles from bricks and explore the huge map with them.

What game are you most looking forward to this week? Co-op horror in Outlast Trial? Co-op shooting in Starship Troopers? Or maybe buying cigarettes and beer in Last Holiday? Drop us a line in the comments!
