An exciting week awaits us on Steam, with strategy fans in particular getting their money’s worth

It’s Monday again and, as usual, we’re bringing you the most important Steam releases of the week.

After last Friday’s release of Dragon’s Dogma 2 a terrific, but also highly controversial role-playing game, shooter and strategy fans are getting their money’s worth this week – even with one and the same game.

Highlight of the week: Outpost: Infinity Siege

Genre: Shooter/Strategy – Developer: Team Ranger – Release: March 26 (Steam)

At Outpost: Infinity Siege the name says it all: In this mix of shooter, strategy and tower defense, you build a heavily fortified outpost with mechs, artillery and turrets to defend yourself against attacking alien hordes in huge siege battles.

What at first sounds quite straightforward is, according to the manufacturer, a challenging genre mix with a lot to consider. Not only do you have to equip your mobile outpost with all kinds of defensive equipmentbut you also have to go on exploration missions to find resources and components and bring them back to your base, which you can use to create new turrets, weapons and units.

In addition, there is also a construction or management componentin the game, as you must have enough energy and ammunition to supply all systems so that your defenses can fire non-stop when the aliens arrive.

The whole thing is being developed by Chinese studio Team Ranger, which has no other reference titles to its name as yet. The publisher is the Chinese indie label Lightning Games (Anno: Mutationem, Tale of Immortal).

    • Millennia: The new 4X strategy game from Paradox lets you found your own Civilization and lead it to success over the course of 10,000 years. It’s not particularly pretty, but it has some cool ideas, as we found out in our previe:

    • South Park: Snow Day: In this co-op brawler, which can also be played solo with bots, you fight your way through South Park as a new classmate on a snowy day, visiting familiar places and, at best, laughing your head off.

    Wednesday, March 27

    • Necrosmith 2: And tower defense again! In this strategy game, you have to defend your necropolis by assembling undead servants from various corpse parts as a necromancer.

    Thursday, March 28

    • Godsworn (Early Access): In this real-time strategy game, you fight as the chieftain of a Viking tribe against attacking knights during the Norse Crusades. The story campaign can also be played in co-op.
    • Open Roads: A story adventure in which you have to uncover dark family secrets. Impresses with a hand-drawn graphic style, which you can see in the following trailer:

    Friday, March 29

    • Omega Crafter (Early Access): Finally, here’s another survival game. It’s a bit like Palworld, except that your companions in this game are robots that you can program using a simple GUI.

Although there is no heavyweight à la Dragon’s Dogma 2 on the menu this week, there are still some exciting titles on the list. Which game are you most looking forward to this week? Let us know in the comments section
