This week on Steam, a hotly anticipated MMORPG, the next PlayStation port, and many more exciting games await you.

The Shocktober has arrived. So it’s time again for dark horror games. But there are also some big and highly anticipated releases. All in all, we can look forward to another month full of exciting games on Steam – and the first ones are already starting this week.

Highlight of the week: Throne and Liberty

(Genre: MMORPG – Developer: NCSoft – Release: October 1 (Steam)

At a time when many online role-playing games like World of Warcraft are increasingly focusing on solo content and casual gamers, Throne and Liberty is taking a different approach. With this MMORPG, the Guild Wars creators at NCSoft and Amazon Games are putting the focus back on the “massive” in MMORPG.

The endgame of Throne and Liberty revolves around large-scale guild activities:Whether castle sieges, raids or huge PvP battles with hundreds to thousands of players – teamwork is required here. If you want to exploit the full potential of the game, you should join a dedicated guild.

There are no fixed classes, instead you choose from different weapon types and combine them as you like. The beautiful open world can be explored quickly at any time at the push of a button, as your character can transform into all kinds of animals – gliding off cliffs as an eagle or swimming through waters as an otter.

The game, by the way, is based on a Free2Play model : There is an in-game shop and a battle pass, but the developers emphasize that you have to play for crucial pieces of equipment and that they are not for sale.

More exciting Steam releases this week

Monday, September 30

  • Zoochosis: And here we go with the horror games! Here you play a zookeeper – but of course you only work the night shift and some of the animals have mutated. Have fun with bloodthirsty zebras and eight-legged giraffe spiders.

  • Starfield – Shattered Space: The long-awaited first DLC for Starfield brings a new planet – the home world of House Va’ruun. New weapons, armor, and of course a new story await you there. Our Starfield expert Kevin will jump right into the game for you – you can read his impressions in the next few days. Until then, you’ll have to make do with the trailer:

    • Rogue Waters: In the roguelite tactical game, pirates meet turn-based combat à la XCOM and strategic naval battles.

    Tuesday, October 1

    • Dread Dawn: Open-world survival from an isometric perspective – reminiscent of Project Zomboid, but with a proper story including cutscenes.

    Wednesday, October 2nd

    • The Killing Antidote: Even more horror, even more zombies. This is, in a sense, the Chinese Resident Evil. A virus turns people into zombies and you have to shoot your way through the undead from a third-person perspective to uncover the background.
    • Settlements Rising (Early Access): For fans of city-building, this week’s offering is a medieval city-builder that aims to deliver everything you love – production chains, lots of professions and resources, and simulated villagers.

    Thursday, October 3

    • Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream: The action JRPG is based on the popular anime in which players are trapped in a virtual reality MMO. You can control over 20 characters from the series and go on raids with up to 19 other players in co-op.
    • Wizard of Legend 2 (Early Access): The sequel builds on the same strengths – fast-paced dungeon crawling and the ability to combine elements to create cool spell combos. But instead of a pixel look, there’s now a real 3D look.

    Friday, October 4

    • Until Dawn Remastered:The week ends, of course, with a horror game – but one that we already know is fantastic! A group of friends wants to take a vacation in a mountain hut, but the trip quickly turns into a nightmare. The PC version has been completely overhauled, is based on the Unreal Engine 5, and comes with some new environments and scenes.

This week doesn’t quite have the fireworks of the last one – but with Throne and Liberty, the big Starfield DLC Shattered Space, and Until Dawn, there are still three real highlights. Is a game you’ve been waiting for coming out this week? Let us know in the comments section!
