The coming week is packed with exciting new releases. Including an eagerly awaited action role-playing game, XCOM-style turn-based tactics and much more

Gamescom 2024 and our big FYNG show (including exclusive world premieres!) are taking place, and there are also numerous exciting games waiting in the new releases on Steam. Among other things, the most requested game on Steam for months is waiting in the wings. Highlight of the week: Black Myth: Wukong

(Genre: Action role-playing game – Developer: Game Science –Release: August 20 (Steam)

Black Myth: Wukongis currently the world’s most wanted game and leads the Steam wishlist charts by a huge margin with over 4 million wishlists.

Based on the classic Chinese novelThe Journey to the West, this action role-playing game combines fast, precise gameplay with all kinds of Chinese mythology. You control the monkey king Sun Wukong, who must use nimble combat maneuvers and powerful magical abilities to hold his own against a variety of mythical opponents

The gameplay is very similar to Soulslike games: You can expect challenging battles in which timing and skill are crucial. Every victory must be hard-earned, as healing is limited and defeating powerful bosses often requires several attempts

In contrast to the more methodical combat in Dark Souls and Elden Ring, however, the battles here are faster and more dynamic, most comparable toGod of War In addition to classic melee combat, you can also use spells that petrify enemies or transform you into powerful beasts

In our pre-test, Black Myth: Wukong has already convinced us for the most part, but the developers have also recently made a name for themselves with bizarre guidelines. You can read more about this here:
