You are one of the few GlobalESportNews readers who are not knee-deep in Baldur’s Gate 3? Then we have fantastic news for you: Lots and lots of cool new games are coming out on Steam again this week – including a potential building game highlight.

Highlight of the week: Gord
(Genre: Strategy – Developer: Covenant – Release: August 17, 2023 (Steam)
Maybe Gord is not the most exciting construction game of the year, after all Manor Lords and Cities: Skylines 2 are still to be released – but the potential for a summer construction hit is certainly there.
Gord is a decidedly gritty building game set in a fantasy world steeped in Slavic mythology. How could it be otherwise, after all, it comes from former Witcher developers.
As the player, you take on the role of a king’s bailiff who heads north to explore and conquer wild lands. The game places great emphasis on its story and confronts you time and again with difficult decisions that have real consequences.

Tuesday, August 15
- (Wayfinder (Early Access): The action-heavy MMORPG starts in Early Access. You choose one of six classes, complete quests and fight your way through the open world and dungeons alone or with friends.
- (Hammerwatch 2): Ten years after its predecessor, you battle your way through the world of this action role-playing game as a mageir, knight, rogue or archer.
- (Desynced (Early Access): The strategy game relies fully on base building and automation à la Factorio. However, without conveyor belts, but with programmable robots.
- (Emergency): The strategy game series returns as a Free2Play title with online co-op on Steam after a long absence and a failed fifth installment.
Wednesday 16 August
- (Holocure): A free Vampire Survivors clone where the vtubers of Hololife are your heroes.
- (En Garde): A witty action-adventure game that relies on snappy sword fights à la The Three Musketeers.
Thursday, 17 August
- (Madden NFL 24): EA’s annual American football simulation kicks off the new season.
- (Shadow Gambit): The next real-time tactics game from the developers of Desperados 3 and Shadow Tactics focuses on a completely new pirate setting with supernatural powers.
Friday, 18 August
- (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre): The asymmetrical online game to the horror classic pits four survivors against three killers. Of course, the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface is not to be missed.
- (Bomb Rush Cyberfunk): A wacky and hip platformer with a cool movement system where you fight as a skater or BMX rider against rival graffti crews and the local police of the cyberpunk city of New Amsterdam.
