Phantom Line lets you fight alone or in co-op as a member of a special unit against supernatural threats

For those familiar with survival games, the insatiable hunger of the game characters is nothing new. We may have just gorged ourselves on a can of beans, a thick steak and a whole loaf of bread, but five minutes later our stomach is growling again

However, survival in the co-op shooterPhantom Lineshould feel completely different. The developers explained exactly what they are planning for their game at gamescom 2024 as part of the Future Games Show.

Tactics, survival and immersion

Phantom Line is set in a future Eastern Europe partially destroyed by nuclear bombs. We are part of a special unit that goes on the hunt for supernatural phenomena, the so-called anomalies, for a mysterious mega-corporation

We fight eerie monsters that emerge from cracks in the space-time continuum while an international conflict rages in the world around us. This is what it looks like:

A few months ago, the developers released a first trailer for the shooter, but now there is new information from the Future Games Show. With Phantom Line, they want to create amix oftactical horror shooter, survival game and immersive simulation&nbsp.

The survival part is supposed to be different from other games in the genre. Instead of having to struggle to starve to death every few minutes

, the focus here is much more on the right preparation for the mission.

Resource scarcity nevertheless plays a certain role, as we have to survive in an area devastated by war without reinforcements and outside help. As is typical of the genre, we also craft equipment and food

From our base in a ship, we set off on new missions in the open world. We can set off alone or as a group of up to four players.

We get help from recruitable NPCs and, as a single player, from the Husk, a kind of clone of us, into whose body we can slip at any time or give it orders.

The excitement of exploring the game is also to be maintained by lots of random events. We don’t yet know exactly what can happen to us, but the new video shows us being attacked by a horde of creatures

There is no release date or even a release period for Phantom Line yet. However, the developers keep inviting interested players to demos on Steam. The next playtest has also already been announced, but there is no date yet.
