Concord was initially torn apart when it was announced. But now people can play it for themselves and are thrilled

WithConcordSony and Firewalk Studios are launching a new multiplayer shooter that is currently causing quite a stir in the beta phase – despite the fact that the first trailer (see above) was a disaster for many players.

The mixture of familiar elements from games such asOverwatch,Destiny 2andValorantas well as its own fresh ideas is now going down surprisingly well with players.

First mocked…

Let’s take a quick look back: Concord was presented to the public for the first time at the beginning of June – and the gameplay trailer was immediately torn to shreds. OnYouTubethere are 6,500 likes compared to a whopping 67,000 dislikes. And the comments are also extremely cynical:

  • The pitch was like this: Do you want to close a few studios?
  • Finally, Overwatch 0.5
  • Karl Klammer from Microsoft Word had more personality than all the characters in this trailer combined.
  • It’s like Overwatch and Guardians of the Galaxy had a baby, but it turns out Overwatch and GotG are secretly related.
  • Watching the trailer was free and I still want my money back.

.. celebrated now

Concord is backed by Firewalk Studios, a team of industry veterans founded in 2018 who have worked on titles such as Destiny and Halo.

This experience is now apparently also reflected in the quality of the game.

Although Concord draws heavily on genre giants such as Overwatch and Valorant for its gameplay mechanics, the game manages to stand out with unique features. Players praise the vibrant, crisp graphics and fluid gunplay, which is reminiscent of Destiny’s PvP mode, but with its own twist.

We’ve collected some opinions for you that show that the beta is obviously worth a try:

I wasn’t very convinced about Concord because of the marketing, but now that I’ve got my hands on it… I think PlayStation has another multiplayer success on its hands.

The gunplay is extremely solid, the heroes have different abilities and are fun to use, and everything just feelsgood

Okay, so Concord is absolutely great. The gunplay feels fantastic, the characters seem interesting, and it’s just a lot of fun. I’m in.

Concord is a great surprise so far! The characters are varied and really fun to play. The combat feels fast and dynamic, definitely worth a look.

A smart move by Sony was to give all PlayStation Plus subscribers access to the Early Access Beta regardless of pre-order. This allowed a wide range of players to try out Concord and is certainly contributing to the growing excitement.

If you want to give the shooter a chance yourself: The Open Beta will take place on Steam from July 18 to 21, 2024, and anyone can participate for free. You can expect three game modes, four maps and all 16 characters. You can also earn small cosmetic rewards for the full release on August 23, 2024.
