Starship Troopers: Extermination opens up the hunt for nasty bugs in Early Access starting May 17.
“Only a dead bug, is a good bug.” This wisdom is as true in game development as it is in Mobile Infantry.
And you’ll soon be able to take care of dead bugs yourself: the release date for the new Starship Troopers: Extermination is now set for Wednesday, May 17
But the co-op shooter is not finished yet: Extermination starts (as an Early Access title) and shall be gradually brought to the level of a final 1.0 version with the help of the community.
Cost point at the start: 25 Euro Later, however, the price is expected to increase.
What’s inside at the start?
- First planet: On May 17, Starship Troopers: Extermination will feature a large open-world map on the planet Valaka.
- Teamwork: Up to 16 players can complete main and side missions there in co-op while taking on huge hordes of alien bugs.
- Classes: With Assault, Support and Defense, there are three different soldier roles with different specializations to choose from.
- Enemies: For Early Access, the bug variants Drone, Warrior, Gunner, Plasma Grenadier and Tiger Elite are available and want to get your hands on the armor.
- Base Building: There are outposts to expand and hold together as players raise walls, towers, ammunition stations and other facilities.
What will be added until the release?
The full version should be ready in a year and then include several worlds that want to be protected from the bug invasion. New enemy types (like flying monsters), class progression with unlockable upgrades, and boss fights (and other events) on the sprawling maps are also expected to follow.
The developers of Starship Troopers: Extermination ultimately want to simulate a permanent and ever-escalating war between the Arachnids and the United Citizen Federation.
New planetary fronts and ever larger battles with more opponents are supposed to contribute to this, as well as a resource system: by conquering refineries, players receive more raw materials for better defense systems.
We can only hope that the launch will be as bug-free as possible. But probably not.
