With official Total Conversion, the shooter Holdfast adds the battlefields of the First World War. This creates a completely new scenario.

Thinking around the historical corner: The military shooter Holdfast: Nations at War is actually set in the time of the Napoleonic Wars, so it relies on muskets, cannons and war horses. The free DLC Frontlines WW1 will soon be released, which shifts the scenario 100 years into the future.

Another hundred years later, from 17 February 2022, Holdfast players will be able to fight against each other with repeating rifles on five World War I maps. This puts the shooter in the department of Battlefield 1 or Beyond the Wire.

All owners of Holdfast: Nations at War will receive the expansion for free, as the developers explained on (Steam). Besides the announcement, there is also some footage to see. Here you can see a short teaser of the WW1 setting:

What is Holdfast anyway?

If the shooter has flown under your radar so far, we’ll help you get a rough overview. Holdfast: Nations at War is set during the Napoleonic Wars, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Players compete in multiplayer battles on large battlefields on several historical frontlines. The developer Anvil Game Studios advertises that over 150 players can take part in a battle.

Very important: Many players practice strict role-playing in Holdfast, i.e. they think themselves into their historical game characters – and behave accordingly. This distinguishes the shooter from other historical genre representatives, but in terms of pure gameplay it also has certain similarities with hardcore titles such as Hell Let Loose or Squad.

And the musketry is very well received by (Steam) gamers: of more than 15,000 reviewers, 90 percent give the game a thumbs-up.
