Few companies that are still active can look back on such a long history of entertainment development as Nintendo. To celebrate this eventful history, the iconic Japanese company is opening its museum on a significant site this October.

From Hanafuda cards to the Switch – Nintendo has been writing a success story since 135. The Nintendo Museum is opening in Kyoto (Japan)on October 2 so that fans and interested parties can experience this for themselves. Before the building opens its doors to guests in the fall, Shigeru Miyamoto gave a tour of the museum in a special Nintendo Direct.

Thefirst flooris an exhibition of various products from the company’s 130-year history. Various games flicker across numerous screens and their iconic soundtracks are played through small speakers. The corresponding cartridges along with the corresponding consoles and controllers are of course also on display. Hardware accessories for sporting activities, such as the Wii Balance Board, can also be seen here.

In addition, the second floor of the Nintendo Museum contains a wide selection of toys that the company has marketed throughout its history. Miyamoto points out a small baby carriage. Various board games, a toy pistol and a seesaw for toddlers are also on display.

Always keeping an eye on the roots

The literal foundation of the company can be found on the first floor of the Nintendo Museum. Digital, oversized maps are displayed on a large screen embedded in the floor. Visitors can interact with them via a smart device provided by the museum and play the traditional card game Hyakunin Isshu.

But that’s not all. On the first floor, there are a total of eight activities that invite visitors to interact with Nintendo’s gaming history. Miyamoto also presents three of them in his tour. Further insights into the museum can be found on theofficial website

Even though Nintendo is not at Gamescom this year, fans can look forward to new games. For example, the upcoming The Legend of Zelda title will be released in September. In this game, you will take on the role of the eponymous princess for the first time
