New games for the Switch are to be presented at the Nintendo Direct. Also rumours about a new controller are getting louder.

Nintendo fans will have to stay up a little longer today: The Japanese video game company has officially confirmed a new edition of the Nintendo Direct. This will start at midnight on Thursday night and is expected to last about 40 minutes.

According to the announcement, which the company tweeted on Tuesday afternoon, the livestream will focus mainly on games that are to be released for the Nintendo Switch this winter. There are many rumours as to exactly which games these will be. Speculation is particularly rife about a possible expansion of the “Nintendo Switch Online” subscription service to include various N64 games.

In recent weeks, several sources have already reported that Nintendo is working on a replica of the N64 gamepad for the Nintendo Switch. The fact that the company announced that it would “mainly” present games fuels the assumption that the new hardware could now be presented.

In the run-up, the leaker “Samus Hunter” had already correctly predicted the timeframe of the Nintendo Direct. If Samus Hunter is to be believed, further announcements could revolve around “Mario Party”, “Advance Wars”, “Animal Crossing”, among others (see below).

Since June, Nintendo fans have been waiting for a new presentation about upcoming games. On Tuesday, leaker and insider “Samus Hunter” spoke out on Twitter. According to him, Nintendo may hold another Nintendo Direct in September or early October.

Samus Hunter spoke at length about the possibility of a Nintendo Direct in September and shared some of the main reasons why it might happen. “Several announcements were planned for third-party titles this month, as well as release dates,” the tweet read. Samus Hunter added: “Some of which I had listed earlier this month. ”

Titles like Triangle Strategy have several announcements planned, according to Samus Hunter, and could give new products Metroid Dread and the upcoming Switch OLED a final marketing push. Aside from the speculation of a Nintendo Direct, Samus Hunter also expects more news on games like Pokémon Radiant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as well as Mario Golf, Mario Party, Advance Wars and Animal Crossing.

While most of these titles are merely up for speculation, the chances seem pretty good that we’ll get a Nintendo Direct and additional news on some of these games in late September or October.
