There are new rumours about the Nintendo Switch 2. According to leaked information, the successor to the popular console could be on the market sooner than expected.

The Switch 2 is a much discussed topic. Fans of Nintendo’s consoles have been calling for a successor to replace the somewhat aging Switch for quite some time. A report from one of Nintendo’s production partners is now causing new rumours, because to all appearances, the Switch 2 could be released sooner than expected.

New rumours about the Switch 2 – release in early 2024?

The Chinese tech site (MoneyDJ) reported on July 24 that a Chinese manufacturing partner of Nintendo has made direct reference to a new, Japanese game console.

According to the report by partner PixArt, the company is benefiting from the current AI boom and can expect continued success in 2024. The reason for this is that the Chinese company produces so-called system-on chips for Nintendo.

According to MoneyDJ, it is quite possible that the Switch successor will be released as early as 2024

The article states:

It is worth noting, however, that the supply chain indicated that the Japanese game console will be launched early next year, which has not been the case for many years, the game console is also one of PixArt’s main customers.

So even though the Switch 2 doesn’t have an official name yet, it could well be that the long-awaited console will be released as early as spring 2024.

How credible are the rumours surrounding the Switch 2?

While a lot of rumours about the Switch successor have already been officially denied by Nintendo in 2021, this is the first time that it is information that comes directly from Nintendo’s production environment.

Until now, there were only a lot of rumours that were based on research and speculation from fans.

Furthermore, the (quarterly report of display manufacturer Sharp) already caused excitement among Nintendo fans in May.

In this report it was mentioned that new displays for a company with which the company has been working for a long time are to be produced as late as 2023.

Nintendo has not yet made an official statement on the rumours currently circulating.

The “leaks” currently circulating on Twitter regarding UI or the appearance of the Switch successor are most likely fake.
